Children with severe behavioral and mental health disorders now have a new state-of-the-art facility to seek treatment at in Mason City, Iowa. Awarded the contract for the new Four Oaks Psychiatric Medical Institute for Children, Dean Snyder Construction broke ground on the project in early June 2014. The $3 million residential treatment facility houses 30 children ages 5-12 who require a structured 24-hour supervised care program.
Four Oak’s previous facility was an outdated, multi-story building that was no longer meeting the needs of the children. The new facility is split into two one-story wood-frame buildings (one for each gender) with each having 15 private rooms, a dining room, a multipurpose room, a lounge area, and a laundry facility. New administration offices and a kitchen were also included in the construction for a total of 17,225 SF.
