Wanting to expand their Diesel Technology Program, North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC) in Mason City worked with Dean Snyder Construction to complete a new diesel lab addition. Included in the project was an 8,160 SF building addition onto their current classroom space to bring the total space to 14,900 SF. Crews raised three overhead doors for more clearance and took the roof off the existing building to match the new addition.
The NIACC Diesel Technology Program was started in 2012 and designed to provide training in diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of heavy duty agricultural equipment, over-the-road diesel trucks, and other heavy duty diesel systems.
The project was designated as a WORKSAFE project with Master Builders of Iowa. WORKSAFE is designed to assist construction projects to be “safety proactive” through the implementation of planning, professional jobsite consultation, training, and recognition.
