During 2008, DSC completed two overlapping projects at Monsanto’s DEKALB seed corn plant in Boone, Iowa, in time for the 2008 Farm Progress Show.
The first project was a new 544,000 bushel bulk storage building and companion multi-story sheller building, including process and mechanical equipment, for the agricultural company. The tower of the sheller building is more than 100 feet tall. This project also included sitework, paving, and new conveyors between new buildings being constructed simultaneously by additional DSC crews.
The second project was the construction of a 5,000 SF addition to the husk-sort building, a 2,500 SF breakroom, and a new 5,000 SF pre-engineered office building with scale in front of the bulk storage and sheller building constructed in the first project. Also, crews remodeled a second breakroom, completed utility work, and installed equipment, such as a seed pack washer, chopper feed system, and green corn receiving equipment.
