DSC crews are transforming the former Globe Gazette building in Mason City into a 15-bed transitional residential care facility for 43 North Iowa, a nonprofit organization based in Mason City, dedicated to supporting individuals with disabilities since 1969.
This facility will eventually serve as a resource for individuals in need of temporary housing and support as they transition to more stable living environments.
The 12,000 SF building has been stripped down to its shell to pave the way for the transformation. When complete, the facility will feature a range of spaces tailored to meet the needs of its residents and staff, including offices, conference rooms, a laundry room, a fully equipped kitchen, communal dining area, family room, nurse’s station, and an activity area. The living spaces will be divided into sections for shared showers and living areas. Each bedroom will have a sink, vanity, and wardrobe.
