Joanne Snyder

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Joanne Snyder. She was very much still a part of our company and would visit the offices often. She always had a great story that ended with a laugh. We will miss her smile & genuine heart.

Joanne Elaine Snyder, 84, of Clear Lake, died Wednesday, April 3, 2019, at MercyOne North Iowa Hospice in Mason City.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 6, 2019, at Clear Lake United Methodist Church, 508 2nd Ave. N., Clear Lake, with Pastor David Peterson officiating. Burial will be at Clear Lake Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Friday, April 5, 2019, at the church in Clear Lake.

Joanne’s family suggests memorial contributions to MercyOne North Iowa Hospice or Clear Lake United Methodist Church.

Joanne was born November 24, 1934, the daughter of Lyle Thomas and Marjorie Elsie (Kutzner) Hill in Mason City, Iowa. She attended school in Mason City. They moved to Arkansas and then moved to Drain, Oregon in 1948, where she graduated from high school. She worked at the local telephone company and U.S. National Bank before moving back to Iowa. After returning to Iowa, she met her faithful and loving husband, Dean Snyder, and on February 8, 1954, they were united in marriage in Mason City for sixty-three years. To that union, three loving sons were born, Don, Dale and David who would eventually become business partners with their father, Dean. In 1977 they opened a business venture together called Cabinets Unlimited where Joanne operated the bath boutique. Later Joanne served as the company bookkeeper until 1986 for Dean Snyder Construction.

Joanne and Dean created many memories dancing and listening to music in the Surf Ballroom, which the family purchased and restored in 1994. They continued to enjoy many more memories with family and friends. They spent several winters traveling before making their winter home in Yuma, AZ.

Joanne is survived by three sons, Don (Jane) Snyder, Ames, IA, Dale (Kathy) Snyder, Clear Lake, IA and David (Vickie) Snyder, Clear Lake, IA; ten grandchildren, Ashley (Aaron) Butcher, Ankeny, IA, Andrew (Desirae) Snyder, Ankeny, IA, Alexis Snyder, Clear Lake, IA, Andrea (Dan Gabrielson) Carney, Clear Lake, IA, Chelsy (Erick) Anderson, Clear Lake, IA, Tiana (Chris) Culler, Clear Lake, IA, Alece (Tim) Hall, Elmhurst, IL, Aria (Tyler) Behne, Mason City, IA, Jace Snyder, Clear Lake, IA and Annie Snyder,Elmhurst, IL; 16 great grandchildren, Ethan Butcher, Jaxon Snyder, Evan Snyder, James Culler, Levi Culler, Hudson Carney, Finn Carney, Laken Carney, William Pritchard, Kathryn Pritchard, Claire Anderson, Evie Anderson, Audrey Anderson, Brayson Behne, baby girl Behne due in August, Charlotte Hall, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dean Snyder; parents, Lyle and Marjorie Hill; brother, Don Hill and sister in-law, Ann Hill.
